When a scheduled group makes sense

Choose a scheduled departure if you like meeting other hikers and can work with the proposed calendar. Solo travellers and pairs can enquire about joining. A departure is confirmed once it reaches the stated minimum of two hikers; an enquiry is not a confirmed place.

Think about rooming before comparing prices. Where possible, solo hikers can share with another hiker of the same sex. If pairing is not possible, or you want a room to yourself, a supplement can apply. Ask us for the specific amount and available room types.

When a private departure makes sense

A private departure can suit friends or families who want to travel together without additional hikers joining, or a party whose available dates do not match the scheduled calendar. It also allows discussion of daily walking, interests and accommodation before the route is agreed.

Private does not mean that every trail, room or viewpoint is available on any date. Mountain conditions, access, accommodation and guide availability still determine what can be offered. Discuss changes before booking; do not assume an optional activity or upgraded room is included.

Compare a written quotation, not only the headline price

Published route prices are indicative starting prices per person in US dollars, based on twin sharing. The final figure depends on group size, dates and rooming. Ask for one quotation that identifies the route, duration, number of hikers, rooms, included services and any supplements.

Read the cancellation and refund policy and booking terms alongside it. The current published payment schedule is a 30% deposit, with the balance due 30 days before departure; bookings within that period require full payment. Check the terms that apply when you book.

What to send in your first enquiry

Tell us your preferred route, date window, number of hikers, room preferences and whether you want to join others or keep the departure private. If no route is decided, describe the walking you normally do and the kind of places you want to see.

The website form prepares a WhatsApp message. You still need to press send in WhatsApp to deliver your enquiry to China Hike. We then discuss availability and the final price. No place is booked simply by opening the message. You can also email chinahiketravel@gmail.com.

About this guide

The itinerary comparisons use China Hike’s published routes and booking terms. Figures describe our itineraries, rather than every route at a destination. Confirm operating arrangements and the written quotation for your dates.
